1. Bureau Works Video Preview
The Video Preview allows users to preview a video with subtitles from the Bureau Works Editor by uploading a Video file to an existing .srt file in a project.
The Video preview functionality will help the linguists to better understand the context of the translations when translating subtitles for a video, ensuring a more accurate translation.
With the preview functionality, the linguists will be able to see their translations in the video while the translation process is still running.
One of the huge benefits of the Video Preview feature is the removal of an entire layer of video production and feedback, which usually happens outside the platform. Allowing the video with subtitles to be previewed within the platform will not only grant full traceability of the changes but also expedite the process of validation since there will be no need to burn the subtitles to a video in order to allow linguists to see the final result in context.
2. How to use the Video Preview
2.1 Uploading a file
The main requisite is to have a project with a .srt or .vtt file.
Once the project is created, the Project Manager will be able to upload media into a Work Unit with a .srt file by clicking on its ellipsis on the right-hand side and then on Upload Media
.
When you see the "File Uploaded" message, it means the video is uploaded, and you can open the Editor.
⚠️You can update/replace the video anytime. The video available in the Bureau Works Editor will always be the most recent you uploaded.
2.2 Video preview
Once you are inside the Editor, you must click on the Preview's ellipsis and then on the Video Preview
button
⚠️ Note that depending on your screen size, you may need to first click on the "+" button to expand the Preview field so you can have access to the "Video Preview" option.
Also, you may want to adjust the size of the Preview field using the same button or the "-" so you can see the Video in Full-screen mode or to be able to see the video Video Preview and the Editor (recommended) at the same time while translating the content.
The Video Preview will open with the video paused. Before you run it, you must click on the Preview
button so you can load the subtitles and see the translated segments on it.
If a segment is empty, the original/source translation will be displayed as opposed to the translation.
Right under the Preview button, you can check the video's details, such as the file name and upload date and time.
⚠️ Note that every time you make a change to the translations, the Preview button must be hit to update the subtitles according to your most recent modifications.
2.3 Navigate to subtitles
It is also possible to navigate through specific subtitles on the video by clicking on a segment. Once you click on the segment, the video will automatically jump to that time so you can visualize your translation. You can navigate between segments when the video is running and also paused.
2.4 Final adjustments
The Video Preview player has a few configurable options for you at the bottom of its right side:
- Sound Volume
- Fullscreen
- Activate/Deactivate Captions
- Video Speed
- Picture in Picture Mode
Now you are all set to start working with the Bureau Works Video Preview!
